Wii do not want a Nintendo for Christmas

Worse than socks
Monday, 5 January 2009, 11:17

THE NINTENDO WII has replaced comedy socks as the most unwanted Christmas present. The games are turning up in droves on Ebay as punters try to get rid of them.

They join cameras and MP3 players at the top of the list of unwanted gifts posted on Ebay or returned to shops.

A spokesebay said that since Christmas, the auction site had almost a million new items listed.

Wii games eclipsed the more traditional hated present - unwanted socks, underpants and pyjamas.
A huge number of Nintendo Wii games have appeared on Ebay, something which has been noticed by high street retailers.

The Sydney Morning Herald quoted a retail spokesman saying that the Wii and other electrical items were the main items refunded this year.

Another item which has been sold on Ebay in record numbers are MP3 players like the Ipod.
These were being touted as a good gift because they were really cheap and the likes of Apple reported a spike in sales.

What many gift givers forgot is that most people either already have an Ipod or will not allow the proprietary technology in the house. µ

Blame its popularity

Giving a wii game as gift is like shooting in the dark... Being the most popular console how do you know if he/she already has the game you are giving?

You are also dealing with another problem, lets put it on the other side, how do you know if the game you are going to receive is a good one?

Maybe people has become too lazy to build a wish list, or maybe santa was too lazy to read them...

crapware + hard times

1) I agree that there is a lot of bundled crapware, it's not suprising it's on Ebay.

2) Times are hard. People need cash to pay for the presents they just bought everyone else, and they're realizing that 'Wii Sports' wil do them just fine.

2, continued) Speaking of hard times, I'm sure PS3s/games are showing up on Ebay for the same reason. The difference is, not so many people could afford to buy the system (and thus the games) in the first place.
