Daily Wibble More bang for your buck

IT'S ALWAYS GOOD to know you can squeeze $1000-worth of performance out of a $300 processor. Hot Hardware has come up with an overclocking article on the Core i7 920.

OCZ's Throttle 16GB eSATA  flash drive is kicking USB 2.0 goodbye. About time too. Elite Bastards has a review.

Thrusting Reviews has a Philips Essence 42-inch 42PE0001 LCD screen. Very cool design... less sure about the glitches.

Creative's Vado HD is a pocket camcorder with FullHD output, which is a half-decent idea. The competition's tough, though. VR-Zone has it.

HardOCP is testing the workstation-class Asus P6T6 WS Revolution motherboard. It knocks socks off.

Some new GSkill kit, the PI Black series PC3-12800 3x2GB kit is being reviewed at TweakTown. Should get your new Core i7 rig some satisfaction.

Tech Gage is giving Intel's Pentium Dual-core E5200 a go. Who said the Pentium was dead?

Digit Life is also tending to the AMD crowd with a review of the Foxconn A7VA motherboard. This uses the 780V value chipset with an SB700 southbridge.

Virtual Hideout has the Zotac 790i Ultra SLI Supreme mobo. This is pretty much Nvidia's highest achievement in Core 2 world.

SPCR is looking at a lightweight PSU from SilverStone, the Nightjar ST45NF 450W. Price, as usual with SilverStone, is pretty heavy.

Duelling OC'd HD 4870 X2s (Googlenglish) can be found today at Generation 3D. Rampage R700 meets Sapphire's Atomic. Worth a look.

Tom's Hardware has updated its System Builder Marathon for the $1,250 crowd. Core i7 moves into the fore.

Planet X64 is tricking out their Core i7 with a Swiftech Apogee GTX waterblock. Pricey, at $300.

Fusion Mods is looking at a rather (unknown) brand of SSD, the Cavalry Pelican 32GB SSD. It's a budget unit with above-average performances.

Overclockers Online has a review of the E-Power Tiger 1000W PSU. Lots of great features that'll get your clock ticking.

BenQ also joined the Netbook fray, it seems, with their Joybook Lite U101. Laptop Mag has dibs on it.

NinjaLane has the Silverstone Sugo SG04 case on review. It looks like a piece of luggage and should make a fine LAN case.

MobileTechReview is actually looking under the hood of the latest generation PS3s. The hardware remains essentially the same, but the BOM has come down 35%.

Hexus is reviewing the Cooler Master ATCS 840 case. ATCS stands for Active Thermal Convection System and it's got nothing to do with your oven. Legit Reviews is doing one on the same case. You can find it here.

One very unique case is on review at Hartware.de. The GMC R-4 Bulldozer (Googlenglish), mid-tower ATX case complete with oddly placed DVD drive et al.

Benchmark Reviews has its hands on the Microsoft Wireless Laser Desktop 6000 XSA-00001. "The keyboard is very excellent looking" writes the scribe.

The guys at Madshrimps are testing out the Xirex Liquid Cooling Starter Set. As the name implies, it's a LCS for beginners. Affordable and quiet, it does a good job at cooling. µ

TOM FOOLERY IN SCORES....

rEAD aRTICLES & Cheap System will get 4850 to 8,000 3D Vantage on Ultimate 32. Mid to 13,000 on 4870X2, same O/s.
Yet, todays system is GTX 260 sli-3 & scores 28,000 3D Vantage, However, NO Mention of O/S. Its Most likely XP, So NO Comparrison. 4870 X2 has already shown T.H. TOP Ultimate Score of: 13,000 3D Vantage. Thats it for TOM, Not Very Good, Others have taken 3D Vantage on Ultimate 64 with 4870 X2 CrossfireX hybrid to 35,000. So Don't Be So Enthusiastic & DO YOUR HOMEWORK, Before You Blow You Precious Monies & Machine, mixing up system thats underperforming anyway. TS Drashek

GMC R-4 Bulldozer

I have only a few words to say about the GMC R-4 Bulldozer case review:

"They shouldn't have let a pervert into the design team."

That case has got to be one of the most hideous, un-practical and perverse things I've seen.

I hope they bulldoze it from their lineup quick.
