Coppers claim gadgets distract drivers
INSPECTOR Knacker of the Queensland Yard has been bending the ear of the Aussie government about how gadgets are distracting drivers and causing accidents.
All those DVDs, GPS navigators, Ipods and mobile phones have been taking drivers' attention off the road and result in accidents.
According to Transport Minister John Mickel, since laws were bought in against using mobile phones when driving, more than 26,000 motorists in Queensland have been booked.
However Mickel said coppers now say that it is not just mobile phones that are causing the trouble. Pesky GPS Navigators that obscure the driver's view of the road are one thing on Inspector Knackers list. Others are mobile phones and MP3 players that shift around when the car is moving.
Mickel said good trip planning and preparation should include setting playlists and GPS travel routes before starting out, and the use of voicemail to collect phone messages during breaks.
Of course, when Inspector Knacker moans about cars packed with gadgets, he is not refering to cop cars which are filled with more technology than you can poke a stick at. Coppers know how to drive their cars full of technology, while ordinary punters have not got the common sense to use them properly. µ

Add to that list the 1.5 sprogs in the back seat, each watching a different video on the mandatory DVD players.
When a human being is ignorant of his true value/duty, the reason why he was born, and ignorance is just a word for being dumb and stupid, he starts “shinning” instead of merely reflecting. The difference between one who sparkles and one who merely reflects is that those who machinates do not know their limits whereas those who reflect and introspect might get to uncover their limits. And why is self-discovery that important? Because you cannot begin the journey towards infinity without realising your true limits/finiteness.
Coppers are merely partial humans who have managed to slipped into the Power-Club. Nobody is above the law for nobody is the law and coppers exists only to represent the law, not to commandeer it. Now, when one is privy to the true behaviour of partial humans, one will realise that it takes a thief to catch a thief. Without exception. The excesses, abuse and corruption within most “law enforcement” outfits is probably ahead of even the “Money Outfit”. The reason why “Internal Affairs” is more than a dirty word is beause it is the mirror that nobody wants. Allowing a being who barks and thence howls to interpret the-balance-within-the-law is asking Ali Baba not to steal. It is impossible to ask a screw to realise that it is merely the nut at another moment. He’s just a screw and when galvanised, he really shines, doesn’t he, whilst not forgetting that pride comes before a fall. Without exception. The control-freak-cum-nutter.
From experience the worst distraction ever whilst driving is needing the loo, as you tend to be looking for services being distracted by anything to do with water and trying not to relieve yourself in the car.
new cars will soon display the GUI's of all ur stuff on the HUD, steering wheel itself, or in the dash where ur speedo is.
so it wont be long till this is improved.
I agree with the copper (fora change) I was catching a taxi home yesterday, and he took a wrong turn so immediatly he paused the meter until we were back on course, then mid corner he leans accross, takes both hands off the wheel, 1 hand shields the light so he can read it, the other is pushing the button to restart it. I was glad to get out of that cab

Blindy chasing after motorists for the most minor of offenses. Meanwhile people get mugged, robbed, stabbed and shot.
Sat Navs, while technically being a source of distraction, have replaced something immeasurably more distracting: paper maps (and their man-handling). Given this and the enacted legislation against hand-held devices, I fail to comprehend how today’s drivers could be as distracted as those of previous eras.
