Video hits Wii stream

At least in Japan
Fri Dec 26 2008, 18:02

JAPAN'S biggest ad agency Dentsu, has signed a deal with Nintendo that will put a video distribution service on the Wii.

Both outfits will offer software for the service, which will be mostly cartoons and other entertainment rather than blockbuster shows.

Some of the content will be pay-per-view, but most will be free and accompanied by ads.

There are more than 34.6 million Wii consoles out in the world and that is a lot of potential viewers for the admen.

Dentsu and Nintendo will launch the new service in Japan next year, while the timing for overseas sales has yet to be set, a Dentsu representative said. µ
