Vietnam cracks down on bloggers
THE VIETNAMESE government has decided that the best way to save the world from problems is to ban bloggers from talking about subjects it does not like.
Under the new laws, bloggers are only allowed to talk about personal things and not things that may be judged to undermine national security. Boggers must not incite violence or crime, disclose state secrets, or include inaccurate information that could damage the reputation of individuals and organisations.
A copy of the regulations obtained by the Associated Press show that the rules are designed to kill off Vietnam's booming blogosphere which has been an alternative to the state-run media.
The new rules require Internet companies to report to the government every six months and provide information about bloggers. They are also expected to censor content that the government says is harmful.
The Ministry of Information and Communications also wants bloggers to use "clean, healthy Vietnamese language", which means no swearing, even when you are expressing yourself about matters that are not government related. µ

Murdoch controls so much that politician's have to kiss his ass and do his bidding, even though he lives on the other side of the planet. Other people that have to kiss his ass are investigative journo's, tv show makers, presenters etc. Notice how Murdoch is never parodied on political comedy shows?

Didn't britain and several other EU countries (and the US) try, and partially succeed, to introduce the very same rules? But then so very many of the new 'security' and 'protection' laws and rules originated either in fascist dictatorships like NAZI germany or totalitarian communist states.
And the weird thing is that the same news people can stand in a foreign country and lament about how awful something is while at home shower the same nasty stuff with praise and adulation, and then expect the public to not notice and just agree it's bad at spot A and unquestionably good at spot B.
