WE'RE BREAKING IN a new INQUIRER wibble format for all you chaps and chapettes to survey and sample at your leisure. We think less talk and more linkage will make happy campers of you all. Do let us know if you like our round-up's new look... or don't, in comments below or by email.
XS Reviews has Jeantech's Unicorn ATX Tower case. Good price, big size, crap HDD mounting, according to the scribe.
Xbit Labs is looking at Zalman's CNP S9900 LED CPU cooler. A new take on a previous cooler, better throughout.
Bit Tech is facing off AMD's X2 7750 against Intel's Dual-Core E5200 in an OC battle. Equally matched, they seem.
Laptop bags are getting trendier by the minute. Think Computers is loving the Booq Boa laptop bag.
While we're waiting for Smackover II, Benchmark Reviews is testing the DX58SO Smackover board from Intel. They've come a long way, it seems.
TweakTown has an HIS Radeon HD 4850 IceQ4 TurboX 512MB *gasp* Crossfired on the bench. Pretty even scoring if you ask us...
Elite Bastards also got more on that, they too are testing the card, right here.
Guru of 3D, aka the House of Hilbert, is testing Gskill's 64GB SSD. Very cheap ($150) and very zippy.
Start 64! ran a battery of tests to check whether 64-bit computing has matured on the PC platform. It has, it seems, and you'll be reaping the benefits in no time.
The Maddest of Shrimps have are reviewing TerraTec's Noxon iRadio Cube. It's a nice little compact music streamer for your household.
Gary at Anandtick wrote up a Holiday Storage Guide. It'll come in handy after the holidays when you download the terabyte or more of videos and photos you took over Yule.
OCIA has an ECS A780GM-A Ultra motherboard on the bench. It addes the SB750 to the 780G for a close-to 790GX feature set.
Notebook Review has a non-pro review of the Asus F6V. You can't go wrong with this Wong.
LaptopMag is looking down at a big 16-inch hunk of plastic called the Fujitsu Lifebook N7010. They don't really know what to make of it.
A new PSU is born every second. Bjorn3D got one from Seasonic, the M12D 850W PSU, which proves to be quite resilient.
German Site Technic 3D is also on a PSU, the Lian Li Silent Force 750W. We google translated it to get you the English content, so forgive our poor grasp of Deutsch.
Hot Hardware has a Dell XPS 730x H2C Core i7 gaming system, liquid cooling et al. A massive beast that should put down anything on a single GPU.
Hexus is testing a Bloodrage X58 motherboard from Foxconn. It isn't on the market yet, but it should reach the UK by January.
Hardware Logic is testing a full PC gaming system from Cyberpower, the Gamer Xtreme XT. It's a no-nonsense rig with a decent price and good gaming performance, it seems.
Hardware Secrets got its hands on HTC's Dream, or T-Mobile G1 for the general public. A lack of an exchange client and poor battery life mar the otherwise impressive handset.
Extremetech is looking itself in the Razer Lycosa Mirror Special Edition Keyboard. They say it predicts the future, care to predict some Euromillions numbers?
That's it. Don't ask us why there are so many reviews today. Those are what our radar picked up. µ
yes, this is better.
You'll never make me a happy camper until you figure out a way to get rid of these irritating mosquitos.
As for the site - I liked it the way it was - before the makeover, but I like it now too. Also, you can squeeze as much as you want into a square pixel - it won't bother me a bit, as long as you guys/gals keep writing great articles with your usual sense of humor, added for good measure.
To sum it up, "Keep On, Keepin' On".
THE NEW SITE FORMAT TOTALLY SUCKS. MAINLY THE FONTS. GO BACK TO THE OLD ONE.
I'm votin' for change
And concise.
The Inq is definitely the single best resource for staying current.
Thanks to you all for your diligent work and good spirits, and I wish you a very happy holidays.
It's gonna be a Very Interesing 2009, especially for IT.
So, maybe there really is no rest for the wicked...
I like the new format only because it's making people upset
much better and more useful, the old roundup format used to be painful to work through.
I wouldn't trust ThinkComputers in the slightest. Almost everything Bob Buskirk reviews gets 10/10.
Ahora esta mejor. Es como un resumen ejecutivo, efectivo con menos palabras.
I like this format more than the previous review roundup but I feel you could go a bit further if ease of use is the main aim. Ideally something like this.
Product name - Website name
Quick blurb

Just a thought.
Could you hyperlink the actual product under review everytime. When it is done it makes it easier to scan through for reviews which are perhaps more relevant to us.
Also has anyone else noticed how many people misinterpret the TITLE field on the comment form? How many times do you see "Mr" or some random job title? Come on INQ just clarify it with a couple of words... You can even put in your faded grey...
Wii!!
Merci à tous les INQhabitants de votre île, pour vous voir, je devrais avoir ignoré modèles et tailles de police, il ya bien longtemps! Ah quand même, que c'est la vie! - innit?
