Pay your ISP to set your house on fire

New service from Comcast
Monday, 15 December 2008, 10:48

US ISP COMCAST has a new service which involves setting fire to your house and then charging you for it.

Apparently, if a Comcast cable box starts a fire in your home it is your fault and you should pay to replace it.

According to the Consumerist, a bloke called Kirk Wisemayer had to call the fire service early one morning because his cable box had caught fire.

Comcast never said it was sorry, nor did it promise that it would never happen again. In fact it billed him $88 for the gear that caught fire and demanded its melted pile of plastic back.

Wisemayer didn't pay up so Comcast got more threatening. The last thing they did was stop him using the OnDemand service, so Kirk cancelled.

Wisemayer, who wrote to the outfit's corporate head office in September still has not heard back.

To drive the outfit mad he has always paid the full amount of his service charges each month and on time, but minus the $88.

He points out that Comcast seems to be willing to lose a good customer who spent thousands on its services over $88 for a bit of gear that could have killed him in his sleep.

When the US Republic's glorious press decided to ring Comcast to ask what the hell it was playing at, the outfit suddenly became more apologetic and said it will work with Wisemayer to restore his service to his satisfaction. µ

Yep, and another way....

That refusal to do do the right thing closely aligns with my experience of them. Except, I did cances, and that's when I found the other way they will suddenly make you deals they had assured you were impossible before. And they keep them coming into my mailbox for over a year now. Nope! They should have done the right thing when I was a customer.

Comcast??

Anyone who deals with stopping spam, will know that Comcast is a cesspit of uncontrolled spam factories.

So this comes as no suprise.
