Google cares

Introducing Abuse and Safety Centre
Thursday, 11 December 2008, 12:00

IT IS GOOD to know that Google is thinking about our safety online as it announces today its new Abuse and Safety Centre, which will be part of the YouTube experience.

This latest initiative was announced at the Family Online Safety Institute (FOSI) conference in Washington, D.C., today and is part of Google's aim to keep users safe on its site.

The centre will feature straightforward safety tips and multimedia resources from experts and well-known safety organisations. This is all with an aim to help users deal with problems such as cyberbullying, online harassment, and hateful content.

Furthermore, the centre will provide a Help and Safety Tool that is designed to enable the user to report any concerns online as well as giving the option of blocking comments and video comments from specific users.

The Abuse and Safety Centre can be found on the YouTube website and will give you advice on topics ranging from phishing scams to the do-and-don'ts of how to use YouTube itself. µ

Google doesn't care

I realize there are overly sensitive people, but things like this are just limits on free speech and have no place anywhere. Sure, sometimes free speech isn't very "nice" but the alternative is far worse.

Not fully......

They should rephrase "Google Cares" to "Google Cares... sort of!"

If google does care then it will help so much in how to prevent minors from viewing adult sites as this still is not happening and many still view them!

The internet is basically composed of this trash $90 of the time!
