ITV rebrands online TV service

Catch Up TV becomes ITV Player
Friday, 5 December 2008, 10:50

ITV HAS ANNOUNCED that it is to rename its catch-up service ITV Player with an aim to become a more recognised service.

The current service, which shows programmes such as The X Factor and good old Coronation Street on the ITV.com site is set to be re-named and promoted through a television campaign beginning the 19th of this month.

Back in March last year ITV rolled out its free 30-day catch-up service as part of a £20 million re-launch of the site.

Last month ITV made its catch-up service available through other platforms with an agreement with BT Vision – this enabled viewers to watch their favorite shows as a replay which were previously only available online.

Ben McOwen Wilson, director of online at ITV, said, "The new logo is part of our aim to create a recognisable and consistent brand for video-on-demand content across the web and TV.

ITV’s overall ambition is to make content as widely available for audiences through whichever platform suits them best, continues Wilson, and this re-branding is part of that mission.

The service will be branded in all marketing communications around programming as the ITV Net Player and will also be referred to as the ITV Network Player. µ
