It's not the cough that carried him off, it's the coffin they carried him off in
THE ONE PLACE MEDIA players are usually not that welcome is at University – yet the Ipod is on its way to medical school.
Officials announced yesterday that an Apple portable media player will become part of the standard equipment for med students at Ohio State University.
Med students will be able to use the devices to view videos of medical treatments and procedures as well as studying images of the human anatomy.
The Ipod Touch will also be used to show patients pictures in order to help identify medications they’re already taking before administering new drugs.
Third-year medical student Justin Harper recognised the potential in the Ipod Touch model with its large screen and intuitive interface.
The University reckons that within two years all med students will be issued with an Ipod device pre-loaded with medical software. µ

My brother went to medical school in Minnesota several years ago and they all had PDAs (mostly PocketPCs but a few Palms), that not only had videos and pictures but full search-able drug references and symptom navigators. Maybe Ohio is just trying to cut costs, but I would rather have the students be familar with tools they may actually use as doctors. www.mdtool.com
