Microsoft ropes Sun in on MSN search push

I am a Vole and I live in a hole
Monday, 10 November 2008, 16:54

MICROSOFT said it has talked Sun Microsystems into offering users of its Java technology the option to also download the MSN Toolbar

Internet Exploder users who download Java will also be hassled into downloading the MSN toolbar as well.

The deal demonstrates how much Microsoft wants to catch up with Google in Internet search

In a statement, Microsoft's senior vice president of the Online Audience Business Yusuf Mehdi, said the deal, "will expose Live Search to millions more Internet users and drive increased volume for our search advertisers."

Sun reckons Java platform is on 91 per cent of Internet-connected PCs and says its Java Runtime Environment is downloaded tens of millions times every month.

Microsoft trails Google in its share of search traffic by about 40 per cent. ยต

Voles (Moles)? Holes?

What is it with you Old Farts?

First the other week an obscure reference to Rugby Songs from the late '60's now a reference which only grey-haired OK white-haired old Brits who used to listen to the Light Programme and 2-way Family Favourites will notice ("Hello from Baden-Baden.").

From the early '60's. I tried to find this on Napster dozens of times but couldn't. Nor could I find "Down Came The Rain" from Mr. Murray.

Cheers
