SOCIAL NOTWORKING blogger group Friendster.com has been belly up for the last few days thanks to power outages in an outsourced data centre.
The outfit has posted a message to its site moaning that the unscheduled downtime was due to a power outage at its outsourced data centre in Santa Clara, California where Friendster’s servers are co-located alongside approximately 50 other companies.
After a few days Friendster is back online, but parts of the site are not working properly.
Users are complaining about some inconsistencies with friend counts. Apparently they once had loads of friends and now they don’t have so many. Either that or the software has worked out that they are not real friends after all and users need to have a dose of reality.
Users have been posting site messages and sending SMS text alerts regarding the downtime and the friend count.
A spokesFriendster said that all of friend connections and data stored on Friendster are intact and will be corrected shortly and not to worry. They claimed it was best to ignore user messages about loss of friends. What do users know?
Apparently it is just taking some time for it to restore each user account as Friendster has over 85 million globally.µ

I'm a Filipino, and I'm hurt. I can't live like this. Living without seeing my friends at Friendster.com? Not cool. Friendster, you're so mean. I'm broken hearted. wawawaaaaa...
I had a Friendster account before and even from the time I started it (Oct. 2003) I've noticed Friendster's always had a lot of bugs. The Grand Slam<tm> happened in March 2006 when I suddenly lost all my friends (guess nobody loves me anymore), all my testies (that's TESTIMONIALS for all you green-minded morons out there), photos (they must've freaked out the web admins at Frienster), etc., etc., etc. 'Friends' connected to me can see me though, which is weird. Oh well, back to reality.
