TINMAN Michael Dell has been taking a spanner to his Vostro desktop line. The redesign is tailored for the lucrative SME market and will come with 'enhancements' such as increased storage and 'expandability'.
Starting at £295.019 the Vostro 220, 220s and 420 are supposed to tackle the problems facing small-business customers including easy-to-use and maintain computer systems, data storage, and quality service and support
According to a Dell press release, the information was based on a survey of current Vostro customers who listed what Michael calls 'top pain points'.
According to a Dell, small-business technicians don’t follow scripts and are specially trained to understand technical issues as well as customers’ business environments.
We think it means that SMEs have their computers serviced by the bloke who normally operates the cash register.
Needless to say the press release waxes more lyrical about the service and support than it does the actual hardware which is nothing to write home about.

Them offering you a replacement part in February next year is ridiculous. Are they saying that it's not possible for them to get that part before then? Surely they could buy it online and fit it?

Please keep us updated, maybe posting updates in the weekly hardware roundup, or if The Inq can create a "Long Running News Items" page that would be the best place for it.

The Inq - can you make a long running news page? NVIdia overheats, MS and Sony being convicted of rippping off customers and other businesses etc.
That's pretty specific...
Dell recently lost a lawsuit in New York for false advertising regarding their so-called "next day" service, but they have learned nothing. My Dell laptop is covered by a next business day on-site warranty, but when my GPU died this past weekend, Dell wanted me to wait until February 2009 for the replacement part. It's easier for me to take them to Court in NY, as Dell has already been found guilty of deceptive business practices.
