Nintendo DSi hacked and deconstructed

Console round-up NXE leaked online
Monday, 10 November 2008, 09:49

THIS RETRO-CONSOLE would have been a dream item 15 years ago for console fanboys world-wide.

It's a NES-SNES-Genesis player, and it's all good. Crunchgear has it pictured.

Xbox 360
According to Edge, the New Xbox Experience (NXE) has found its way onto various dodgy torrent sites.

Microsoft has said that there will be plenty of 'surprises' coming for the Xbox in 2009 - and that up to half of the features planned for the NXE were dumped due to time constraints.

The handheld Xbox has once again been dismissed by Microsoft.

PS3/PSP
Sony plans to sell PS3 games through a new line of "PoP" entertainment vending machines in the UK this Christmas.

Bad news for Sony - the PS3 allegedly has the lowest console attach rate, and considering its expense, this could impact Sony's financials somewhat.

Better news comes from sales in Europe - the PS3 has outsold the Xbox in 2008 (but not the Wii).

Wii/DS
The DSi is reportedly filled with 256MB of memory - and various pirate cards will no longer work in the new console, according to Eurogamer.

Bunnie's blog (via Gizmodo) goes one further and deconstructs the console - and finds an improved processor might be draining the console's battery life.

This hasn't stopped it being hacked already though.

It seems to be doing well though - Nintendo sold 170,000 units in its first two days. µ

B****cks About PS3 Info

Oh come on for gods sake the 360 and Wii where out before the PS3 a year in fact. It took 1yr for 360 to finally get some good games out and to use it's power. The same would be for the PS3 and then this year alone it's had some great titles Little Big Planet, Resistance 2, MGS4, Valkaria Chronicles.

What has the 360 had out this year not so many big games it has it's success last year with Halo 3 & Forza 2. And if you stopped 500 of each owner you'll find they would rather buy pre-owned then full price 360 & PS3 on adverage are £40-50 which I refuse to pay £50 for a game so I order online and usually get my PS3 games for £30.

It's like this console war crap a console war is only official if all consoles are released on time within 1 another like the old skool days SNES Vs Mega Drive.

back up...

I would like to point out Dave, that although your right about the launch date, you are ranting off the topic here. They are talking about "ATTACH" rates...in which games are attached to the console sales...on which the PS3 has the lowest rate...why...the damn thing is the most expensive console. Let us also point out the only mention " console wars " in the entire article was in fact brought up only by you...

wrong

actually only the xbox 360 was out a year before the ps3 and wii. the ps3 came out before the wii by like a week, both the wii and the ps3 came out in november. the ps3 on nov.11 and the wii on nov.19 so next time get ur facts straight before dissing information.

actually...

not everyone who comments on this site is from the US...

the launch dates for the consoles were different in other parts of the world. Here in Australia for instance, the Wii was launched on the 7th of December and the PS3 did not arrive till about March the following year. The UK had similar launch dates due to them also using PAL based consoles rather than the inferior NTSC like the US and Japan.

I would agree though that the attach rate for the PS3 would be the lowest, but not really for the price of the console or software, but because many people have bought them solely as a Blu-ray/media player rather than as a games machine seeing as though for quite a while, the PS3 was the best standalone Blu-ray player available.

MR

Ok I have not had the RROD and never likely to but the Xbox 360 is a vastly better games console that the PS3 also the NXE due out 2009 will add DirectX10.0 to Xbox 360 which will also make for a more realistic game experience because the Phisics engine will be better which means that the face on the game charactor will look like what peop;e look like in real life.
