Cooler Master hacks street prices

Please buy something
Tuesday, 2 December 2008, 11:15

POWER SUPPLY specialist Cooler Master is the latest in a long line of component suppliers to start panicking in the face of dwindling sales and desperate forecasts by making hefty cuts to its retail prices.

"We have been monitoring the overall economy and decided to take bold action to stimulate consumer interest", said a Spokescooler.

He explained, “Naturally, over the last two quarters, improvements in manufacturing efficiency would have led to a lower price for end users on many of our products. Unfortunately, the global economy caused a massive increase in the value of the dollar and the street price has not moved the way we originally expected.

"To redress the balance, we have authorised significant price cuts. The price cuts offered to distribution will allow the channel to get their pricing down to the level we expected it to be at ‘naturally’ for this time of year”.

Which really means, if you cut out the econo-babble cobblers, no-one is buying any of our stuff at its currently over-inflated price so we'd better make it cheaper... pronto.

In real terms that means Silent Pro 500, which would have been around £71, should now hit the shelves at around £60. The 600 drops from £81 to £69 and the 700 drops from £91 to £79.

The UCP 900w will drop from £203 to £146 and the 1100w version falls from £230 to £160. µ

to expensive

They have got to be joking, they need to take off another 40% on top of that, I think all they do is rebadge stuff anyway, the 200% markup for a badge won't cut it anymore.
