Microsoft seeks unsecured debt securities

ACCORDING TO A regulatory filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Microsoft wants to get itself some senior unsecured debt securities so it can issue debt at any time.

In an interview with Bloomberg, investment boffin Brad Lutz, a Veep at Declaration Management and Research LLC, reckoned a bond offering from the Vole would be in high demand thanks to a top credit rating from Standard and Poor’s and Moody’s Investors Service.

The fact that the Vole operates outside of the currently cursed financial sector helps, said Lutz, noting “non-financials have generally received a warm reception by the investment-grade capital markets”.

Volish CFO Chris Liddell had planned on the move since his firm’s offer to buy out Yahoo, which Mighty-Soft had planned to pay for partly through debt. But since the Micro-hoo deal is no longer on the table (or at least, that’s what Steve Ballmer would have us believe), it seems curious the Vole is still pushing ahead on the bond issue.

Whispers and speculation are already flying out of the rumour mill. Perhaps Microsoft really will make another pass at Yahoo, perhaps the Redmond Giant will turn its attention to Salesforce.com, or some other weak and vulnerable prey.

It could also be the case that the firm is simply trying to take advantage of a debt market starved of investments and possibly even buy back truck loads of its own currently undervalued stock.

No doubt we’ll find out soon enough. µ

What about the channel?

Thought the INQ recently informed us that MS has started to sell direct.

Well, business love leasing MS licenses. To encroach on the channel effectively, means to me that MS has to be offering leasing options comparable to what channel partners do...so there you go. maybe that's what this if for.

Evil

Microsoft is a money grabbing "evil" organisation that tries to flourish by stamping out or buying up competition and spreads deceitful FUD throughout the industry, abuses its position to further its own ends.

the result of this is that you are force fed utter utter crap like Vista, and they take your money for it.

Anyone who gets into bed with Microsoft needs their head examining unless the initial cash offer is enough to retire on straight away.

M$$ wants free money NO NO NO WAY
why because they cant give a big enough discount to companys that will only install or offer windows
maybe they want to sink annother 10 billion (likely 15-20b ) into windows 7 like vista

almost as bad as thinking the #1(maybe 2) seller of autos in the world? GM needs a bail out
how about we could supplement better cars safe and efficient only and made HERE only. not hybrid supertanker SUVs that get 12 instead of 8 MPG. perhaps get turbine/electric semis produced and sold here

INQ Poll

Authorities in several countries raided Megaupload recently, shut down all of its services, seized hundreds of servers and arrested several of its executives on criminal charges.

Do you think the move was justified?
