SUN MICROSYSTEMS is releasing updates to all of its Java packages today, it announced yesterday. This marks the first time the company has pre-announced its Java programming language updates in order to give IT departments a little warning for scheduling purposes.

The versions Sun is releasing are the following:

  • JDK and JRE 5.0 Update 17
  • SDK and JRE 1.4.2_19
