China miffed at US hacker allegations

Shut up or we will pull trade
Monday, 24 November 2008, 10:11

CHINA IS FURIOUS that a US congressional report has accused it of developing sophisticated cyber warfare and militarising its space programme.

Last week the US-China Economic and Security Review claimed that China was developing a sophisticated cyber warfare programme aimed at penetrating US computer networks to extract sensitive information.

However the Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Qin Gang said the report was aimed at misleading the public and impeding bilateral cooperation.

He claimed that the commission has all along seen China through dark glasses and has deliberately attacked the country with slanderous accusations aimed at misleading public opinion and obstructing the development of Sino-US relations.

The spokesman claimed the report was "unworthy of rebuttal and the aims of the commission are doomed to failure".

Of course saying something was "unworthy of rebuttal" means that you don’t have to come up with a defence, or even have to deny the accusation.

Qin urged the commission to stop issuing such reports and refrain from interfering in China's internal affairs, although we would have thought that its internal affairs stopped at the Great Firewall and the US was fully entitled to moan if its computers were hacked by a foreign power. µ

It would be the best thing in the world...

...if the U.S. terminated all trade with China. We could rid the U.S. of inferior crap products unfit for even a trash bin.

One can only wish that trade with china comes to a stop

I am tired of scrap that comes from china such as stainless steel that rusts, dog food that poisons my dog, toys with led or other chemicals that poison my children.

I'll gladly pay more for a product that is made locally or in Europe.

When is our government is going to start protecting us from this.

But Paul-

Then we would have to start poisoning our own pets and children, what would we do?

Jealous? ;-)

Perhaps the US Congress is just jealous that the Chinese techniques are more sophisticated than the US fiddling. In any case, we have to throw more money into security. More security, MORE SECURITY!

Now, what does the US Congress have to say about the French, or the Germans, or the Russians? We have to keep up a clear-cut concept of the enemy, dont' we, because means more money for more security!

Any Fox News addict here to enlighten us with the latest brown propaganda?

All in the game?

According to my analysis they are both right, china like any modern nation and most notably the US does research in the field of cyber-warfare, they would be incompetent and mad not to when america is so mad enthusiastic about it, and the US is clearly trying by various means including a lot of propaganda to destabilise china and it's relations (and not just china you might have noticed if you have even a partly working brain).

@Paul

Do you realize how much trade north America does with China? If we stopped overnight both Canada and the US would suffer greatly.

And if the US people wanted better products, then why don't they pay more for it and buy them?.... Oh yea, almost all of them are broke now.

Paul=Typical...

An over simplistic view expressed by an all too common simple mind. If America ceased trade with China, America would be f***ed. Keep dreaming Paul....

You get what you ask for

The main reason why some of the stuff built by China and sold in America is cheap crap is because that is exactly the specifications asked for by the companies they are supplying. crap in crap out.

US terminates trade with China

In your dreams, bub.
You do know that the only thing your country makes now is press releases and Krispy Kreme donuts (not sure for the donuts either) ?
That the intelligent people that populate your Universities are from abroad ?
That the jobs you want back were sold by American companies in the first place ?
That the current situation is the result of decades of political and economical mismanagement, for which both colors of the political rainbow are most directly responsible ?

When will it all end ?

When people will make their democratic decisions based on candidate's programs, and not influenced by slime, FUD or baseless claims.
Won't be tomorrow, then.

Would be bad for both sides...worse for China

You do realize that the US importation of Chinese made products is the primary source of Chinsese income...Yes if the imports would stop it would hurt the US for a time, but it would hurt China 10x more...without the US imports of Chinese goods, China would become an insignifcant 3rd world country again...
