Wii and DS dominate videogame system sales in US

October great for a Wii

NINTENDO'S Wii and DS gaming consoles are still the top video game systems in the United States, according to sales figures.

Hardware and software sales of the Wii and DS rose 25.7 percent in October as compared to the same month last year.

This all happened while the consumer markets tanked thanks to dismal economic conditions in the United States.

Nintendo sold 803,210 Wiis and nearly half a million DS handheld gaming gizmos. Overall sales of Wii consoles rose to 13.35 million and 23.02 million for DS devices.

Nintendo claims, with some justification, that it is the best-selling videogame hardware in the current generation of offerings. µ
