PETA brings blood and guts to cooking game

'Tis the season to be gory
Wednesday, 19 November 2008, 16:00

VEGGIE PRESSURE GROUP PETA has brought out a gory Flash game which is aimed at making you think twice about having turkey this Christmas.

PETA or People for the Ethical Treatments of Animals, has brought out a rather more graphic spin-off of Majesco’s game Cooking Mama.

PETA’s game, Cooking Mama: Mama Kills Animals, involves the player plucking feathers and removing guts from a turkey - the main character, Cooking Mama, is also no longer a pleasant looking housewife, but a demonic killer.

When we look at the gaming aspect to this ridiculous parody the version is not that bad, with higher than average Flash graphics and decent sound affects.

However, the whole idea is just a raging vegetarian’s way of putting us all off our Christmas dinner.

To PETA this is more than just a game, “Majesco’s game is so heavy on dishes that are made from dead animals that the only things missing are the blood and gore” – it’s not hard to see why Majesco would leave this out though.

PETA continues this rant by giving us a figure of 40 million turkeys which end up on our tables at Christmas, “There’s nothing funny about the suffering endured by turkeys and other animals who are killed for food.”

So really, PETA has turned a nice simple-minded game into a gory bloodbath – and it says we’re the monstrous ones?

Furthermore the animal rights group is encouraging players of the original game to petition Majesco for additional vegan recipes – we wish them luck with that.

If you fancy having a little go on PETA’s version we warn you that once you’ve plucked and gutted your bird, you will have the option to view a rather unpleasant scene in a real-life turkey slaughterhouse. µ

That game isn't going to convince anyone to become a vegetarian.

PHETOR!

PETA isnt a veggie pressure group, nor are they comprised soley of vegitarians.

They do however push for better treatment of animals which are killed for food.

"So really, PETA has turned a nice simple-minded game into a gory bloodbath – and it says we’re the monstrous ones?"

Yes, you are. You kill just because you like the taste.

less brain cells then teeth

1 veg is filled with dangerous pesticides and chemicals and thus is not perfect
2 not eating meat at all is extremely bad for your health and can cause many problems
3 the game was rubbish , but damn it made me hungry (now where's that turkey)

Oooh, those scamps

You were forced, on threat of bodily harm, to play that game, weren't you?

Just checking...

You say that as if there's something wrong with it. Interesting username...

I thoroughly enjoyed this game until it came to the tofu part, which was completely boring.

BONUS ROUND!

Don't forget the unappetizing tofurkey you prepare if you make it through the gory bits. Then Mama Loves Animals and decides to go vegan.

"So really, PETA has turned a nice simple-minded game into a gory bloodbath – and it says we’re the monstrous ones?"

sounds to me like they're really just trying to make people think about the link between their dinner and where it comes from... calling the desire to do this monstrous is like getting angry at the evening news for ruining the good mood you were in... it might be true, but that doesn't change the reality of what's on the news... here's the same thing again:

"However, the whole idea is just a raging vegetarian’s way of putting us all off our Christmas dinner."

so you're complaining that the truth bums you out? well, tough! don't get mad at having animal suffering pointed out to you when you were successfully ignoring it... instead, you might want to face up to the reality of how meat gets to your plate, and decide whether it is something you can continue to tacitly endorse or not... that's ALL that's being asked of you here... you can still choose to eat meat... but you could at least take your head out of the sand and actually MAKE that choice, rather than retreat into reflexive defensiveness...

Mr. Gobble

Yeh, I do feel sorry for those turkeys every year. That's why, this year, we're having ham.

Soon...

They will start to kill people so animals would be spared. What a pain in the a... Maybe we should kill all carnivore animal too, I bet they suffer much more on the fangs of their predators than when killed by humans. Or even better, we should start annoying them for all that vegetables killing and dismembering they promote. How many carrots, they kill each day?

the game makes a good point. We have cancelled our turkey order and will be having a Jamie Oliver recipe of veal with foie gras instead.

Plants have lives too, you know. Why is it ok to eat veg when eating animals is wrong. We should only be allowed to eat other human!

Lawsuit

Mmmm, I smell the scents of lawsuits coming up for PETA. Cooking Mama is technically a trademarked game, and they even went as far as using the company name in plain sight. Happy Thanksgiving to PETA, when they can't buy their meals!

I'll eat chicken instead.

I really don't like the way domestic commercial turkeys have bee bred to be stupid and unable to breed without help. If anyone has to buy turkey, go for heritage free range turkeys instead. They taste better.

As far as it goes, we'll eat chicken. I grew up on a chicken farm and, yes, I plucked chickens and took out their innards as a kid helping prepare a meal. Everyone has to eat and humans are omnivores.

Still, I look forward to the day when animal flesh can be grown in vats so we don't have to kill animals for food. Perhaps then, even the stray cat murdering nutcases at PETA will have their chicken and eat it too.

Give me a freaking break

We kill because we are made to. We have these things that prove we are omnivores, they are called our teeth. We are Meat eaters, born and bred. if you choose not to fine eat your oats and shut the hell up. PETA my ass, animals have no need for ethics, does the lion think about the poor gazelle, no the f**** exposes teeth and claw and eats away. The Ethical treatment of animals is a fantasy of biblical proportions, we cannot even treat our species with ethics and you want me to worry about an animal with a brain the size of a peanut. I will give a damn about turkeys, or chickens, or fish, and the suffering they do endure when we end human suffering on earth, ending starvation, war, and genocide. No those are weighty issues so stick with something cutesy like the poor little animals.

You PETA A*******s really tick me the hell off wasting valuable resources that could be used to stop the suffering of an animal we know has the ability to suffer, humanity. Until you start with your own species shut the f*** up and die, as you are increasing the suffering of your own at the expense of brainless, lower animals who are not even self aware. Yes they are cute, and yes they are food, and yes PETA is Bull****.

sigh...

peta are a bunch of self-obsessed sensationalist buttheads, but that does not change the fact that EATING meat is bad for your health, the planet, and causes endless pain and sufferring for non-human animals who feel, dream and suffer.

meat, egg and milk farms cause more pollution than all of the fossil fueled vehicles combined.

meat, egg and milk based diet causes thousands of diseases and health issues.

and worst off all, try going back a couple of millenias or centuries (given when your country decided to act right and abolish slavery), when slaves were not treated as beings but as "tools who could talk", and also bare in mind the conquerors who considered the native inhabitants of freshly discovered countries "soulless heathens who can not feel or think".

besides, most of the noble prize winning laureats were either vegetarian or vegan. many of them claimed that STOPPING the deathatarian diet fad is the only chance humanity has to a better future.

thus spoke nikola tesla as well.

but he was just a loon right? he only layed down the foundation for modern electricity and electronics we still use almost a century later!

Vegetables feel pain, too.

I remember reading a scientific article many years ago that proves that. When you cut into a vegetable or fruit, it tends to cause reactions throughout the entire fruit.

Those reactions are equivalent to the reactions animals have when they're injured.

No, it doesn't. I'm pure vegetarian (no eggs as well) and have been so for the full 18 years of my life. I've never had any problem due to it. Where I live, you'll find more than 70% of people vegetarian.

Turkeys don't bleed when you pluck 'em

I think educating people about treating animals in an ethical manner is a great thing, but putting out a game like this, which is highly inaccurate, is not sending a clear message. Not all information is good information... when it is obviously misinformation.

I respect what PETA is trying to do, in spite of being a meat-eater myself, but not their tactics.

Mmm Mmm good

Hey, if people weren't supposed to eat animals, then the flying spaghetti monster wouldn't have made them taste so gol-durn delicious.

And PETA is so bloody self-righteous and silly that I only eat the cruelest meats just to spite them!! Make mine extra-cruel!! Taunt the turkeys! Prank the porkers! Mock the moo-cows! Your mother was a heifer and your father smelt of cowpies!!!! Paint a "door to freedom!" sign on the entrance to the abbatoir, just to give them false hopes.

it would be if the mouse controls were tighter, but they're not. how does peta expect to get their point across when their game isn't even entertaining?

also, eggs don't bleed when you break them.

A hitch in their plan

If humans only ate vegetables there would be a worldwide famine because of the world demand for food... hundreds of millions would die.

Oprah eats turkey...

Oprah Winfrey, friend of Pam Anderson eats and enjoys turkey sandwitches and seems to have no problems with it.
Personally; i worry that if some humans go vegetarian, they might go fasicist of hitleresque due to a similar diet or might go luu luu. Also nobody mentions what happens if you have a peanut allergy or soya allergy or both because both are similar protien wise except for a hard outer shell and soft outer shell for the other.

Flagged to Nintendo

I flagged the peta website to Nintendo, as I don't want my kids brainwashed by Peta should they happen across this on a google search.

Hopefully it'll be off the web soon.

Its a fact of life, you have to kill animals to eat meat.

Get over it, move on, if you don't like it don't eat meat, but don't impose your views on me, and don't you dare adopt the moral high ground Mr. ssj4Gogeta.

If you want to be blunt and presumptuous about it the registrant of the domain Peta.org has a very Muslim sounding name to me.

@ssj4Gogeta

- you should concentrate on eating more brainfood,

http://www.thethinkingbusiness.co.uk/brainfoods.htm

Note that "meat" scores highly in all the categories for helping you thing,

@XkillerX

Eating meat is NOT BAD FOR YOU, where do you get this unsubstantiated drivel?

This is where you come back with the statistic that showed that monkeys fed exclusively on beefburgers had shortened lives especially when then ate 100 a day..-- but wait wouldn't proving that be cruel to animals.

I'm not holding my breath waiting for a response from a bunch of ill informed, brain food starved hypocrites.
