US retail websites slowed on Black Friday
IN A HOPEFUL SIGN for the health of this year's holiday shopping season, US retailers' websites staggered under the crush of online traffic Friday.
Sears.com slowed at about 9:30 am, when loading a webpage took more than a minute. It finally went down under the crowd of wibbling bargain hunters at about 10:30 am. For the next two hours the site displayed a message asking punters to try again later.
Other US retailers' websites also experienced slowdowns, including Amazon, Target, Kohl's and Saks. E-commerce tracking firm Keynote Systems reported that Amazon's and Target's online stores took 40 seconds to complete transactions that had taken 25 seconds last week.
Shawn White of Keynote said he expects more online slowing and shutdowns on Monday. µ

Buyer beware, Sears.com will tell you they have the merchandise in stock, charge your credit card and six weeks later tell you that they have no stock on the items that you ordered

Been there, done that. Don't try to cancel your order either after weeks of non-shipment. Sears.com does not allow you to cancel even if they can't ship your order within 30 days as required under law.

Stuck up over promoted under experienced CEOs wont pay more for IT, and when they do they expect one guy to be the messiah of the keyboard, wire closet, help desk, system admin, decktop hardware, server hardware etc! at the same time. Now tell me when they loose profit because they did not properly fund IT to provide a stronger front end for web dev etc. which makes more money? Beefing up IT or loosing profit because you are so weak you cant even host a freaking website. Come one people, its 2 freaking thousand 8 pull your heads out.
