FRUIT-THEMED toymaker Apple is in hot water for shipping iphones with hairline cracks in the casing.
The latest court case against the Cupertino outfit says that, not only did Jobs' Mob ship shonky phones with 3G reception that cut out, they also came with hairline cracks that ultimately would lead to the death of the phone.
New Yorker Avi Koschitzki said that that many of the hairline cracks are visible on unopened, unused iPhones.
He claims that Apple willingly and knowingly sold iPhones with the unsightly lines. Of course the cracks in the casing would not be just a cosmetic problem, even if most of Apple's marketing is geared to producing something that looks nice. Cracked casings will ultimately allow moisture into the toy and cause it to go bang, much like my old Apple II did.
If Koschitzki proves his case, it will be the second major build quality issue to hit the Iphone. The other was installing a cheap 3G chipset that had known reception problems in Europe.
"Although Apple was and is aware that the handsets were and are defective, and that consumers have experienced repeated instances of cracked housings, Apple has nevertheless allowed the defectively designed Iphones to be sold to the public," the complaint says.
The 23-page suit, which has been filed in a New York district court by Nassau County resident Avi Koschitzki, also claims that Apple misrepresented the performance of the touchscreen handset by advertising it as "twice as fast" as its predecessor.
Of course we don't think it will damage sales at all. Apple fanboys would buy dog poo if it had an Apple logo on it and Steve Jobs told them it was wonderful. ยต

im on my 4th Ipod (warranty exchanges only) 
3rd logic board for my laptop, and 2 failed airport cards.

all of the 3 products have constantly been at our apple store from purchase, and now as of next month they run out of warranty so I sold it all, and bought normal gear, a toshiba laptop with vista premium, a zune, and I dont need a wireless card.

so ppl please stop buying this crap!

A collegue has a new iPhone 3G.
It has never been anywhere near any water except maybe inside his jacket while it's raining.
4 weeks from new it stopped working and the problem turns out to be a corroded connector. Apple & CrapPhone WankHouse both said it wasn't covered under warranty. He had to buy the part online (apparently it's a common problem) and replace it himself.

Now, maybe I'm old fashioned but that is a prime example of badly designed/made product coupled with s*** customer care.

While I can't and don't dispute the various problems experienced by users of Apple products--hardware defects and software failures--I can speak of my own experience with the six Apple products I have bought since acquiring my first Mac in 2000: Apple G4 Power Mac; 21" CRT Cinema Display; 2007 Mac Pro; 30" flat screen Cinema Display; White plastic 2.4 gz MacBook; and 3G iPhone.

I have experienced NO problems thus far with any of these products. In both build quality and performance, they have all met or exceeded my expectations. They are a pleasure to use and own. 

I suggest that the reason Apple has a rabid, if statistically small, fanbase is not because Steve Jobs has managed to hypnotize those of us who favor Apple, but because their products DO "just work," and their melding of intuitive software with attractive, well-designed hardware provides compelling reason to keep coming back to Apple. 

This is not to absolve Apple of responsibility when their products fail or are defective, or to minimize the unhappiness of those who experience problems with their Apple products, but to recognize that, for the most part, their products work and are not defective.

contrary to your opinion this is the standard reply from all apple brainwashed people, there could be 10 posts in this from different users saying the products suck, and they keep failing and you would still come on here and say all my gear is fine, here is some golden sunshine rays for you, see everything is alright now, steve jobs made it all better, you need to go to a deprograming facility asap sir/Mam as I fear if you stay oppresed much longer I dont know if you can ever be saved. 

I have 3 friends who were apple lovers, they were so passionate they could argue for hours why apple is much better, and most of the time you would just give up in frustration, 
but now all 3 are sitting next to me with Toshiba laptops and windows Vista, saying thank god, I saved myself 1K just by buying a similar spec laptop as I had just without the apple OS, and I love Vista
and not a single failure and they can play mainstream games, software is only half the price for apple equivalent.

The grass is so much greener in the PC world, because we all still have some money left, our dignity, and reliable electronics.

also something funny as well, even apple stores are riping off apple, the last time I brought in my ipod touch for a repair, the bill for the repair was 1300 dollars (it was still under waranty for me, but this is what the apple store charges apple for the repair) I mean that is just extortion at a whole new level
