Prices of flat panels face a hike

Manufacturers go all glassy-eyed
Tue May 08 2007, 11:10
MANUFACTURERS OF TFT-LCD flat panels will try to raise prices this month with smaller sizes the focus of the attempt.

According to the Taiwan Economic News, notebook sized panels could rise as much as $10 during this month, with panels for smaller desktop monitors also expected to climb.

Larger panels for LCD TVs are also stabilising the same report said. There aren't as many panels in most sizes swilling around in warehouses.

This, however, won't be the first time the TFT-LCD vendors have tried to emulate the DRAM market and the fact is there's more flat screen glass out there than ever as the major players all attempt to leapfrog each other on next generation fabs. µ
