R600 GPU overclocked to 1GHz!

HW Roundup PR in overdrive but chip is a mixed-bag
Tuesday, 15 May 2007, 09:12
AS EXPECTED, Monday was completely marked red, with the launch of Radeon HD series of products. Since AMD only did a hard launch of a single product, the 2900XT, most of the sites reviewed exactly this card. We have received around 50 reviews from different sites, which means that this launch has really been massive. Sadly for AMD, a lot of reviews were negative - but then again, what to expect when a nine month old product comes with drivers that have issue in Crossfire and perform better in higher resolutions than in lower ones.

Without further ado, Radeon HD 2900XT got reviewed on following sites: Driver Heaven, HardOCP, IT-Review.Net did SLI/CrossFire, OCWorkBench tested ASUS EAH2900XT, PCPerspective, and we'll end with TheTechLounge.

However, there are two reviews that we have to point out: Italian PCTuner and Singaporean VR-Zone. Guys from PCTuner overclocked the GPU to 0.98 GHz, while Shamino reached the mark first set with Radeon X1800XL - 1GHz clock for the GPU, in 1:1 sync with the GDDR-3 memory.

Christian Harris from BIOS Magazine decided to break away from the mould of AMD and R600 coverage by reviewing USRobotics MAXg ADSL2+ Kit.

If you own a notebook with a broken screen, most of users are likely to buy a new one. But, if you own a beast and do not want to replace it with something new, there is a solution for your dilemma: Virtual-Hideout posted an article that shows how can you order a replacement LCD screen and replace the screen yourself.

For those eager to see how things were yesterday and how they are today, Hardware Secrets posted their updated Nvidia Chipset Table.

IT-Review.net is not slackering this Monday, guys posted three reviews, starting with their review of MSI Bearlake motherboards. Guys also took a pop at DAAMIT/Graphzilla war of documents, by commenting their documents.

Techgage tested Razer's Pro|Click mouse and Pro|Type keyboard, in a bid to search for the ideal gaming periperhial. Did they find what are they waiting for - find out here.
