Sony offers no battery warranty

Three months and be grateful

"WHAT KIND OF rubbish is this?" INQ reader Mr W wants to know.

After his Sony laptop battery died, he was appalled to be informed that the batteries have no any warranty whatsoever.

Mr W felt miffed by the apparent suggestion, "I should a be a good little Sony consumer and be grateful for their 3 month "gesture of goodwill" !? This for a Sony laptop that costs upwards of £1200+VAT..."

"Batteries don't die suddenly, unless they are faulty, notes Mr W.

Luckily, of course, it didn't explode.

You have stated that you purchased a new battery which is ok now

Sony do not offer guarantee on the battery, as it is a consumable item. It is subject to wear and tear not covered by the manufacturers warranty. Usually as a gesture of goodwill we offer 3 months warranty on the battery.

Please note though, that we are constantly trying to maintain the highest standard when releasing new products. We have taken note of your comments and concerns and thank you for the time you have taken to share them with us. Unfortunately, we cannot give you any other satisfactory response. Thank you for your understanding in this "
