Ebay denies security breach

Contacting users by phone
Thursday, 27 September 2007, 11:23

ONLINE AUCTION powerhouse Ebay has denied that the posting of 1,200 Ebay users' information on its Trust and Safety discussion forum was the result of a security breach.

Ebay told Network World that its servers weren't hacked to obtain the information posted. It says that the credit card numbers that were posted don't match financial information in its own database or that of its affiliate PayPal. It believes the credit card numbers posted aren't valid.

It has reopened the Trust and Safety discussion board and is contacting all 1,200 affected users individually by phone to explain the situation. ยต

eBay and Vladuz again?

Interestingly, the character who plagued eBay earlier this year has popped up on a forum he used at that time to 'confirm' he is responsible for this latest security breach.

This link wil take you to his post http://www.pheebay.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3048
