Wii is ready to run

Launch to make Sony look like a bunch of amateurs

WHILE SONY is having a devil of a job getting the Playstation 3 into the shops, Nintendo seems to be ready to give its rival a good kicking.

According to Associated Press, the Wii will be launched in the US two days after the PS3 and unlike its rival will be half the price and more likely to be available.

Nintendo said 400,000 Wii consoles would be available on launch in Japan - about four times the number of PS3s Sony managed to scrape together. Figures are similar for the US and European launch. Sony can't get enough boxes together to flog its console in Europe until March.

Nintendo thinks that it will have 32 Wii titles and 30 virtual console titles available in the US, which is much less than Sony. But then again if you can buy a PS3 by the time the Wii has more games available you are doing well.
