Feds say bloggers are journalists

FEC! Press cards for all, drinks down the pub
Friday, 18 November 2005, 08:09
AN OPINION released by the US Federal Election Commission (FEC) we noticed at Slashdot effectively concludes that bloggers and forums qualify for press exemption as far as federal campaign finance laws are concerned.

The opinion, expressed here, refers to the Fired Up network. The FEC has asked interested parties to comment on its draft opinion.

The Commission concludes: "That the costs Fixed Up incurs in covering or carrying news stories, commentary, or editorials on its websites are encompassed by the press exception." ยต
