Chinese firm remarks Celerons as Pentium 4s, claim

Tricks BIOS, Windows

AN ISRAELI hardware site claims a Chinese site is selling fake Pentium 4 CPUs.

It alleges that the maker re-labels Celerons and sells them in a bundle as Pentium 4 original microprocessors.

Hardware Zone Israel claims that the firm also has a patch it's disseminating, which fools Windows and the BIOS into recognising a Celeron as areal Pentium 4.

Hardware Zone Israel is here. The site also provides a link to this page which as the words "brand new, remarked from Celeron "P4/3.6G" printed on CPU top exactly same as original P4 CPU".

Of course, the irony is that Celerons are cut down Pentium 4s, but that irony will be lost on Intel, because if the allegations are true, the firm will hear the furious pounding of Chipzilla mighty paws any time round about now.

The Israeli hardware site said it has evidence that such bundles are already being sold in Israel and probably other countries too. ยต
