Nvidia to launch Geforce 7600 GS on the 22nd

$149 DDR 2 card
Mon Mar 20 2006, 10:37
WE DON'T have many details yet, but we know that Nvidia is preparing for a new launch. Just days after it launched its Geforce 7900 and 7600 generations, it is readying a lower cost 7600 part.

The chip specification will be similar to the existing 7600 but we know that the new cards will use DDR 2 memory. It will end up slower but at the same time the cards should cost around $149. We suspect that these cards will be able to beat 6600 GT cards and for sure it will give ATI's X1600XT a run for its money.

The launch date is just two days from now. We know that the add in board partner BOM (build of materials) cost is $110. We will try to dig out information on the the clock speeds for you. µ
