IBM settles overtime lawsuit

$65 million to 32,000 workers

OVER 32,000 technology workers will receive more than $65 million in back pay after IBM settled a federal class-action lawsuit.

According to Associated Press, the case claimed that IBM illegally withheld overtime pay from the workers by forcing them to work more than 40 hours per week and on weekends without additional money.

Workers, who were not decision makers or creative types, were classified as executives, managers and high-level computer operators so that IBM did not have to pay them overtime.

IBM is refusing to admit that it did anything wrong. It just claims that it is too expensive to fight the case.
