SUN MICROSYSTEMS will apply a lucrative stamp of approval to Ubuntu Linux in the very near future according to Reuters.
Mark Shuttleworth, founder of Ubuntu, said that the Santa Clara-based server and workstation makers would certify the operating system for use on "some Sun products".
Out of the dozens of available flavours of Linux, it tends to be the ones with the support of hardware and software developers which stand out from the crowd. So this could be a massive turning point for Ubuntu, elevating it to the heady heights (and commercial rewards) enjoyed by the likes of Red Hat and Novell.
Looks like the deal could be in the can, snaarf snaarf! µ
