Dell unilaterally switches UK to Euro standard

LONDONERS forced to catch the Tube are presented with a free newspaper called Metro, but a savvy reader of the INQ noticed an anomaly this fine Wednesday morning.

Said our reader: "I was sitting on the tube this morning reading the London Metro and I came across a Dell advert on page six.

"I then wondered why on earth all the prices were rather expensive and noticed that they were in Euros. Furthermore, the website it refers to is Irish and all the phone numbers are Irish. It even says in the small print at the bottom that offers only available in The Republic of Ireland.

"I happened to have looked into the history of the Metro recently and I seem to remember there is a similarly named publication in Dublin. Looks like someone made a big cock-up with an ad that probably cost tens of thousands of pounds."

The UK chancellor, Gordon Brown, may be interested to hear that Dell has managed what the Labour government hasn't - a swift shift to the Euro away from the pound. µ
