Sapphire Quad Crossfire gets closer

Two RV570 on a single board pixellated
Thursday, 21 December 2006, 16:38
SAPPHIRE is making a dual RV570 board with internal Crossfire. It sounds just similar to the Quad SLI GX2 cards from Nvidia. We have some pictures of the card and the card running a 3Dmark.

The card has two power connectors and a huge heat pipe cooler on top of two chips but just a single fan.

We don't know how well it performs, but Sapphire will probably show this card off very soon. It is longer than the motherboard so it is probably at least as big as the 7950GX2 card.

We still don't know if it will work as a Quad Crossfire with two cards, each having two chips but it should be possible. You can pair up to 128 Radeons if it helps, the chips supports it. ยต
