Ageia CEO reckons graphics guys have physics phobia

JUST AS we suspected, the CEO and Chairman of AGEIA - nice chap Manju Hegde - confirmed our claims that the graphics guys are making too much noise about "physics" on their cards.

Their physical jerks mean they want a chunk of this possibly very profitable pie.

The geezer confirmed my earlier claims that making physics on a dedicated hard wired card is the most efficient way to do it. The guys and one of the key technicians confirmed that it is not all about "gigaflops", the number that ATI wants to highlight.

We are getting into a similar situation as in the old days, when Intel's megahertz was not the same as AMD's. So you cannot compare the specs, reckons Manju. No matter how efficient your shader is, Ageia claims its hardware can do it faster. The CPU guys wanted to run Transformation and Lightning on a CPU, and you can do it, but the graphics chip was always able to do it much faster. We think this might be the same scenario as a dedicated chip is always faster than the emulated one.

The company also adds that Havok FX and its support for Nvidia and possibly even for ATI has some serious catching up to do. Havok FX had zero titles at press time but we are sure that Nvidia and its TWIMTB, The Way It's Meant To Be played and its fat marketing budget will be enough to convince a few of the jolly consumer giants.

Nvidia and ATI are great marketing machines, and people trust in their products and that's why it is much easier to convince the audience that Nvidia and ATI are doing the right thing and that Ageia is not. This will be an interesting soccer match to watch.

If Ageia is such a scam as Nvidia and ATI wish and want you to believe, why would they have acquired some top AMD, S3 and some other executives? Those guys are not as naïve as you might think. µ

Authorities in several countries raided Megaupload recently, shut down all of its services, seized hundreds of servers and arrested several of its executives on criminal charges.

Do you think the move was justified?
