Intel mobile quad-core spotted

IDF San Francisco With mobile crossfire

WHAT DOES AN Intel mobile quad core notebook look like? The CPU-Z info looks mostly like this.

All the specs too blurry to read

We realise that it is a bit blurry, so we will tell you what it says. The part itself is a 55W quad core Core 2 Duo Core 2 Number Numeral, is running at 3.2GHz on an overclocked bus. That runs up to about 300MHz (*4) on this particular example from the 1066MHz of the 3.06GHz original.

For memory, it has 2G of 1066MHz DDR3 with 7-7-7 timings. If that isn't enough for you, how about not one but two ATI 3870s in Crossfire. You can turn one off to save battery life, meaning low double digit minutes to higher double digit minutes.

Crushes monsters up to 4D6 HP

There is a downside however. Please note the full size gaming mouse on the power brick, but brick hardly connotes the size of this beast. That is the downside. The up side is that if your gaming area is infested with large unruly vermin, you can always drop said brick on them, killing them while tenderising the meat. Then you can cook them on it.

All in all, this is a pretty nice step forward for the power user, but the price in battery life and weight hardly seems worth it. If you are dumb enough to buy a gaming notebook, this is very exciting news.

If you can wait a while though, Nehalem offers dynamic power-off per core, a much better way of doing things in every regard. ยต

You could have just asked...

Lenovo on their Lenovo blogs and they probably would have sent you a Lenovo W-series Quad core laptop to a review.

How bout if I am dumb enough to buy a gaming notebook, but use it to process seismic data for my oil exploration company, said company which makes for me in 30 days what you make in a year, pretty dumb huh?
