A REPORT suggested that the departure of Quanta president Michael Wang could lead to the firm being taken over by Taiwanese giant Hon Hai (Foxconn).

Quanta is one of the biggest ODMs (original design manufacturers) and churns out notebooks under contract for a bevy of familiar multinational names.

But the last few years has seen increasing consolidation in the Taiwanese IT market.

The Taipei Times reports that Wang quit earlier this week because he was opposed to a takeover by Hon Hai, which is one of the big three manufacturing giants, along with Asustek and Flextronics. µ
