Netscape does a Digg

Badly

CHECK OUT http://www.beta.netscape.com and then http://www.digg.com. Are you seeing double or is it just us?

In fact as we write this, the top story on beta.netscape.com reads: "AOL Copies Digg". We think, however, that it should say, "AOL makes a pale imitation of Digg/Reddit". Just look at it. Look at the ads that stick out of the page.

One user writes, "Wow what a terrible knock off of digg". Another comments "Take a dozen ads, squeeze them onto every single bloody page in the site and you get Netscape.

Yet another adds: "Having ads is fine. Having ads is understandable. Having ads in the middle of the comments, however, is just plain annoying."

Seriously, AOL, This may be a Beta test, and it is fine to make a copy of digg but, at least, try to make it look good. No doubt you'll change it soon because Digg 3 is about to come out. µ
