writers are clearly coming of age as their prices are quickly falling under the $50 barrier. Yet another one is the Aopen DUW-1608 which is a 16x model, available from Dumping goods at $48. Has 2MB buffer and a tilt status self calibration. Available in white and black.

If your motherboard is RAID aware, the you can't do yourself any harm to build a RAID1+0 system around those cheap WhiteLabel Datatech 250GB HDD. At $96 for a capacity of 250GB - or $0.38 per GB, they are as cheap as chips. MDT basically reassembles components from major brand hard disk manufacturers and can therefore get major discounts. The HD is a 7200rpm model with a 2MB buffer.

RLSupplies sends us news about the availability of a bundle comprising of a 108MBps Acer Wireless Broadband router and a 108MBps PCMCIA card for only £39.95+VAT. The router is 802.11g compatible and has an outdoor transmission range of 50m. Other features include a four-port switch and firewall protection. Excellent value for money from an excellent brand.

Tigerdirect is selling what appears to be the cheapest 17-inch colour TFT monitor in the US. After a $80 rebate, the price falls down to $169.99. The product in question in an AOC LM729 monitor with a response time of 16ms and a pair of built in speakers. It offers a portrait mode option as well.

PCSurplusonline is selling some Radeon All in Wonders, the original ones, for only $24.99. There is no manual, software or whatever. But it comes with a PAL TV Tuner, VIVO and DVI. Just don't try to play the latest games on it. µ
