Oh dear
Wed Jan 05 2005, 07:09
A REPORT claimed that Transmeta, one of the smaller manufacturers of X86 processors, could get out of making chips.

The report, at news.com, said that instead Transmeta may license its technology to others.

While there were high hopes for Transmeta before it introduced its first processors, design wins for the products it made have been scanty.

And the firm suffered from production problems for its processors at a critical time in its existence.

Only a handful of firms, mostly Japanese, make products using Transmeta chip technology.
