AMD's Henri Richard pitches up at Freescale

And another ATI exec leaves DAAMIT, damn it
Wed Sep 05 2007, 23:42
EVER SINCE Henri Richard left AMD as chief sales and marketing officer, people who follow the life of Henri Richard have been asking the question: 'what the heck is going to happen to Henri Richard?'

At the time, Richard was quoted by no lesser source than an AMD press release as saying: "After 20 years in the PC industry - and five of the most professionally rewarding years here at AMD - I have decided to make a move to a different business segment."

Now we know what kind of complete change he is making: he is going to be chief sales and marketing officer at a semiconductor company - Freescale, to be precise. So he's moving from a mostly not embedded chip company with big premises in awesome Austin, Texas to a mostly embedded chip company headquartered in beautiful Austin, Texas.

More on the AMD management carousel: senior veep of worldwide sales Rick Hegberg plans to leave AMD, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Let's not read too much into this but the timing of this news on the eve of the Barcelona launch is not ideal. µ
