Apple declares war on France

You are all pirates

SPINSTERS at the maker of nice looking entertainment gear Apple have gone on the attack to try and block a law which will mean the company will have to open its iTunes up to its competitors.

The popular law has made it through the French Parliament in a move that Apple has dubbed "state-sponsored piracy." It has apparently sent its lobby group to talk to the French upper house to see if it can get it blocked.

A spokesApple told Wired that if the law goes through, legal music sales will plummet just when legitimate alternatives to piracy are winning over customers.

It is an interesting tactic calling your competitors allies of pirates, but we are sure that Mac Heads will believe it - after all many seem to think that all rivals of Apple are in league with the devil.

On the plus side Apple says that the law could increase its sales of iPod music players as all those pirates will be able to upload their iPods with 'interoperable' music which cannot be adequately protected. So swings and roundabouts for Apple.
