ATI, Nvidia porting drivers for AMD-OSX hybrid?

Rumour mill turns fast again

WHILE BOTH ATI and Nvidia have an interest in selling their products into the Mac market, sources suggest they have an even more intriguing reason for dabbling in this market.

Both companies now have teams actively investigating the port of OSX to an X86 CPU - and that is upping speculation that such a beast cannot be too far away.

Right at the beginning of the year, columnist John Dingler suggested here that if such a thing were to happen, his choice for such a port - between AMD, Intel and Transmeta - would be the first.

And a letter at the end of January, called Apple, AMD and the Mac Attack, suggested June Mac Expo could see the announcement of an AMD OSX machine.

We also understand that both ATI and Nvidia are pushing neck and neck to produce integrated graphics drivers for such a platform.

An AMD Clawhammer CPU running OSX? Well, that would be a turnip for the book that would make the Intel boys cringe more than a little. ยต
