INQ wins Intel competition outside the box

Intel Developer Forum Hoorah!

FRESH FROM WINNING A PC BUILDING contest at Computex, (See here), the boys from the INQUIRER were at it again. The author and Rob Squires, running under the craftily thought up name Team Inquirer, entered the IDF 'Under the Hood' tech trivia contest. This was a two night event testing your knowledge of everything from San Francisco history to Intel propog^h^h^h^hmarketing initiatives.

Even with creative thinking outside the box in our search for answers, we lost the first night badly. The shame of being beaten by team Coast 2 Coast hung heavily on us. A tie for fourth place finish spurred us on though, three random guys trashing us? We weren't even drunk for this one. They got 23 of 30 points, we got umm....less.

So, we started our creativity earlier in the match this time, and ended up winning with a score of 26 of 30. Vindication, and a Dell Axim X30 was ours. In twist though, we did not win the overall cumulative contest. In a nail bitingly close contest, we ended up tied with Team Gateway, both of us had a score of 45 points.

Left: Squires, centre Demerjian, right dunno who he is

Since there were way too many people around for us to dispose of their bodies, a runoff was set up. Five more questions, Inq vs the cow boys. Three to three. Final one, sudden death. True false. Is 141 prime?

Yup, we won, making the Squires-Demerjian team 2 for 2. Unstoppable some might claim, cheating bastards others may say, but we prefer 'blessed with the ability to think outside the box'. We would like to thank Intel's PR people, and specifically Megan for putting up with us. We know we are whiny, and you guys put up with us gracefully. Thanks a bunch, see you next time. ยต
