T-Mobile gets legal kicking from Truphone

Anti-competitive

TRUPHONE HAS has won an injunction against T-Mobile forcing the mobile phone company to allow people make cheap calls over the Internet using your mobile phone and VoIP software.

T-Mobile network refused to allow Truphone to run its mobile to Voice over IP service over its network. Truphone took the outfit to court claiming that T-Mobile was "preventing the launch of the Truphone service" and "abusing its dominant position" by not routing calls to Truphone users.

Much to everyone's surprise Deputy High Court Judge Robin Knowles QC issued an injunction instructing T-Mobile to route calls to Truphone numbers by Monday 23 July.

This will mean that Truphone will be able ot provide its service while the case is heard. Of course it is too early for Truphone to open the champers yet.

As news.com said, the first battle has been won, the war is far from over. Truphone now has to take T-Mobile to court for a full hearing of the case and if Truphone loses, the injunction would be lifted and it would probably be blocked once more.
