GooTube to pay posters

You've been paid
Friday, 4 May 2007, 11:49
OM MALIK, for it is he, has a scoop-ette on his hands with the news that YouTube is to remunerate some of its top posters via sales of banner ads.

As nobody in The INQUIRER's office is under the age of 53, we find it hard to comment on whether the likes of Lonelygirl15 should be rewarded, although she certainly seems a very nice young lady.

However, you have to feel that whenever the filthy lucre appears on these sites things can very quickly get staid.

I mean, what next on YouTube? The Price Is Right? Breakfast with Frost? Or even that stone-age antecedent to vlogging, You've been Framed, which is now paying £250 per aired clip and still asks you to send your “hilarious home video on tape or DVD” by post? µ
