AMD plans high-end desktop graphics chips for at least next three years

CES 007 R700, R800 and R900 in perspective

WE HAD a chat with one of ATI's executive veeps, who is now an AMD chap. Rick Bergman confirmed that AMD wants to stay in a desktop graphics business.

People close to Nvidia started a rumour that AMD doesn't have enough engineers, power or money to do R700 and the chips after that but Bergman says that's cobblers.

One of the chaps that drive the graphic business at AMD confirmed that DAAMIT has plans for its desktop offerings, including the high end, for at least three more years.

And that doesn't imply it will stop after that. It is just that it is hard to plan anything in this industry for any longer than that.

The integration is going well and the new DAMMIT, says Bergman. It is shaping up and it ready to rock and roll and change some things in 2007. ยต
