Xerox and Palm bury Graffiti hatchet

Handwriting costs $22.5 million
Wed Jun 28 2006, 15:26
A LEGAL case Xerox launched against Palm has ended up with the latter case writing a cheque for $22.5 million to the former.

Xerox said that it sued a predecessor to Palm Inc for using handwriting recognition technology marketed as Graffiti, which infringed on its own Unistroke patent.

The $22.5 million Palm will pay includes licensing fees for Unistrokes and a couple of other patents. Both Palm and Xerox have agreed not to go to war again for another seven years over patents they've agreed to mutually respect. µ
