Sony to cut price of Blu-ray player

Kind of, inevitable
Mon Jun 04 2007, 11:10
THE LIST PRICE of Sony's BDP-S300 has dropped in price to $499 from $599, according to Associated Press.

Sony's explanation for the price drop is that there's more demand for Blu-ray products now, while costs of production have fallen.

Only the absolutely cynical would suggest that the price drop is because Toshiba is selling its HD players for less than $300.

Patient consumers are probably waiting until Sony and Toshiba get absolutely desperate and start selling these units at reasonable prices that your average punter can afford. µ
