Bart Decrem Flocks off

Founder CEO leaves the herd
Thursday, 14 September 2006, 07:33
THE FOUNDER Web browser outfit Flock seems to have quit the company and headed off in search of pastures new.

Bart Decrem has stepped down as CEO and is looking to build another company. He said that there is nothing wrong with Flock, which makes a social networking browswer with security features, it was just that he wanted a new challenge.

Decrem will remain chairman, advisor and shareholder to the company.

Flock has managed to raise $3.2 million in venture capital and says it might need more cash and time if it is going to become a big name.

Flock uses the open source Mozilla code and claims it makes it easier for those who like to share photographs, search the Internet and stay up to date on news.

However Decrem's departure must look a little dodgy to investors. The outfit has largely failed to make a dent in the market, despite the fact it is a nifty product.
